It has been a crazy couple of weeks. For a while now I have been wondering what the future holds for the old trucker. Stress and such has been manifesting itself in chest pains, sleepless nights and short temper. Everything came to a head a couple of weeks ago when I all but lost my temper over wait times at Safeway, dispatches being changed at the last minute and just plain old boredom from doing the same old thing day in and day out.

You could be so glued to this thing that you’d never do anything but surf Facebook.com.
This Facebook thing has become without a doubt my social networking service of choice. Unfortunately it is missing a livechat module. This, of course, forces me to maintain Windows Live Messenger, up and running at all times when I am online. The routine is usually something like this:

What is going on with the weather in Alberta? This is getting just a little ridiculous, to say the least. Did the weatherman forget about APRIL SHOWERS, spring flowers and all that mush? April snowstorms are for the freaking birds. This, especially after having a full week of > +10° weather!

Derrick, one of my Calgary counterparts on the midnight Safeway run was telling me that the roads were all messed up because of the storm on Thursday night. I thought to myself, “What a whiner. Can’t handle a little driving in the rain. What will he do when he is faced with an Alberta winter.” Derrick is from Winterpeg. He just moved to Alberta about a month ago so he hasn’t experienced all that Alberta winter has to offer.
