It has been a crazy couple of weeks. For a while now I have been wondering what the future holds for the old trucker. Stress and such has been manifesting itself in chest pains, sleepless nights and short temper. Everything came to a head a couple of weeks ago when I all but lost my temper over wait times at Safeway, dispatches being changed at the last minute and just plain old boredom from doing the same old thing day in and day out.

When we do it, we do it good!

“The driver said his load shifted as he went around the corner and that caused his load to tip.”

We can’t seem to have little fender benders, can we? We don’t back a converter under the trailer, miss the pin and wipe out the 70.00 mud flap. No, not us. We have the trailer too low, back the converter up without paying attention, don’t notice the converter folding up until the 3000.00 reefer unit is damaged.

We don’t miss the turn and dent our bumper on a power pole. Nope, we miss the corner altogether and send 35,000 pounds of milk and produce all over the ditch…. (Photo on full article)

What is going on with the weather in Alberta? This is getting just a little ridiculous, to say the least. Did the weatherman forget about APRIL SHOWERS, spring flowers and all that mush? April snowstorms are for the freaking birds. This, especially after having a full week of > +10° weather!

….. SNOW, ICE RAIN, RAIN, WIND all at freaking once. Time to earn my money I suppose.

Derrick, one of my Calgary counterparts on the midnight Safeway run was telling me that the roads were all messed up because of the storm on Thursday night. I thought to myself, “What a whiner. Can’t handle a little driving in the rain. What will he do when he is faced with an Alberta winter.” Derrick is from Winterpeg. He just moved to Alberta about a month ago so he hasn’t experienced all that Alberta winter has to offer.
