Beer from all over Canada and the united states. Half dressed servers. Beautiful weather and LOTs of drunks. What does this amount to? The Edmonton International Beerfest, that’s what.
Not exactly what we were expecting, though what we were expecting, in retrospect, was a little naive. Mark (@rwboho) and I were expecting more of a beer tradeshow. What we found was lots of beer and lots of people gathered with one thing in mind… Getting hammered. I suppose, as was tweeted by one person, the whole point of any beerfest is to get loaded. Our $15 dollars per head entry fee got us nothing but through a set of doors and into a line up to purchase SAMPLE tickets with which to purchase the beers. at 50 cents a ticket and an average of 4 tickets per sample, we were paying $1 per ounce of beer, wine and liqeurs. It would definitely be less expensive to go to the bar.
Fortunately Mark and I arrived early enough we were able to get around the entire venue and taste the wares before things got crazy. Of course we went to all the tables and grabbed all the SWAG we could find.
