Beer from all over Canada and the united states.  Half dressed servers.  Beautiful weather and LOTs of drunks.  What does this amount to?  The Edmonton International Beerfest, that’s what.

157 Not exactly what we were expecting, though what we were expecting, in retrospect, was a little naive.  Mark (@rwboho) and I were expecting more of a beer tradeshow.  What we found was lots of beer and lots of people gathered with one thing in mind… Getting hammered.  I suppose, as was tweeted by one person, the whole point of any beerfest is to get loaded.  Our $15 dollars per head entry fee got us nothing but through a set of doors and into a line up to purchase SAMPLE tickets with which to purchase the beers.  at 50 cents a ticket and an average of 4 tickets per sample, we were paying $1 per ounce of beer, wine and liqeurs.  It would definitely be less expensive to go to the bar.

Okay, I am drunk! I went for a beer after work. This is something that I do everyday. I alsways stop at Brewsters Castledowns for ONE beer after work. It relaxes me and allows me time to read the newspaper and wind down after a day at the old grind.

Today, however, I bumped into a friend of my sister’s at Brewsters. Being in the inside group at the bar he introduced me to the pleasure that is BlueberryBeerLinis. This concoction has Blueberry Beer with real blueberries floating in it. Added to it is berlini slushy mix. Woah!! GOOOOOOOOD! After a regular Original pint I devoured one of these beauties and now I am loaded. Here I sit, drunk, waiting for Chinese Food to arrive….

So where does Telus figure into this. Well let me tell you. It has been a horrendous day at work and Telus made it even worse.

canada-day-fireworks.gif…is that Happy Beer Day?

It appears, according to a quasi-scientific poll whose results are posted in todays Edmonton Sun that pretty close to ALL Canadians love beer. Some would like to have a beer with Wayne Gretzky (26%). Some would lke to sip the suds with David Suzuki (25.9% but why). About a comparable number of Canucks would be more likely to sip suds with comedian Mike Myers (23%)

Interestingly enough, 34% of Canadians think that poutine is the best Canadian dish with beer. I agree. Well not really, I don’t like fries, but if they come with beer I might order them just to be part of the crowd. And finally, a shocking 40% of Atlantic Canadians would prefer to have beer than have sex. I guess that’s not so shocking. I have an easier time getting beer. Read on »
